Union, NJ (May 30, 2025) – A serious two-car crash near Kean University disrupted the morning commute Thursday and sent multiple people to the hospital with injuries.
The accident took place at approximately 6:22 a.m. on May 29 at the intersection of Morris Avenue and Green Lane, directly outside the university’s Green Lane academic building. Authorities say two vehicles collided with such force that several occupants were trapped inside the wreckage.
Union police, firefighters, and EMS units rushed to the scene and began rescue operations. Emergency responders worked rapidly to extricate the victims, who were then assessed and stabilized at the scene.
At least three individuals were transported by ambulance to University Hospital in Newark for additional treatment. Their current conditions have not been publicly shared.
The crash brought traffic to a standstill along Morris Ave in both directions, and police advised drivers to steer clear of the area while crews remained on site conducting cleanup and investigations.
Authorities from the Union Police Department are continuing to investigate the events leading up to the crash. Updates are expected as more details become available.
We hope the wounded individuals make a timely recovery.
Car Accidents in New Jersey

Understanding the main causes of vehicle crashes can help reduce risks and promote safer driving. Here’s a look at a few of the most frequent contributors:
- Distracted Driving: Texting, adjusting music, or eating behind the wheel can lead to split-second mistakes with lasting consequences. Staying fully focused on the road can prevent countless accidents.
- Speeding: Driving above posted limits reduces reaction time and increases the force of impact in a crash. It’s one of the leading factors in injury-related and fatal collisions.
- Running Red Lights and Stop Signs: Intersection accidents are often caused by drivers ignoring traffic signals or signs, leading to side-impact or T-bone crashes, which tend to cause severe injuries.
- Impaired Driving: Alcohol or drug use dramatically affects a driver’s ability to react and make sound decisions. Choosing a sober ride can save lives.
- Fatigue: Drowsy driving can be just as dangerous as driving under the influence. Long hours or poor sleep can slow reflexes and impair judgment behind the wheel.
