New Jersey Car Crashes
Truck accidents are often more serious than other forms of traffic accidents. The truth is, that semi-trucks are much heavier than passenger vehicles. In fact, they weigh about 20 or 30 times more than the average passenger vehicles that often traverse American roadways. This means that, when they become involved in crashes, they often cause a lot more damage than other types of vehicles. Each year, around 500,000 large truck crashes are reported throughout the United States that cause tens of thousands of people to sustain injuries and thousands to lose their lives.
Several different contributing factors come into play when truck collisions happen in the state of New Jersey. Some of these may include:
Driver error: Truck drivers are usually under a lot of pressure to meet deadlines, which can cause them to engage in risky behavior like speeding. This can lead to accidents that cause injuries and even fatalities.
- Mechanical failures: Tractor-trailers are complicated, large machines that need routine maintenance to remain in optimal working order. If a truck fails to be maintained properly, it may end up with problems that cause accidents.
- Driver error: Truck drivers are often under pressure to meet deadlines which can result in them behaving in ways that risk their safety. Some of this behavior may include speeding or intoxication.
- Poor road conditions: New Jersey roads can be in poor condition, especially during winter weather. Potholes, ice, and snow can all contribute to truck accidents.
Unfortunately, individuals hurt in truck wrecks often end up with injuries that are overwhelming and extremely painful. Some of these injuries can cost tens of thousands of dollars to recover from, and result in other damages, such as:
- Lost earnings
- Medical bills
- Emotional turmoil
- Pain
- Suffering
- Loss of life enjoyment
- Property damage
