Woodmere, NY – Man Killed in Fatal Car Accident on W Broadway

Woodmere, NY (December 31, 2025) – A tragic multi-vehicle crash claimed the life of a 76-year-old man Monday morning, December 29, in Woodmere, according to Nassau County Police.

The collision occurred just before 9:30 a.m. along West Broadway. Nassau County police reported that the man drove westbound in a Nissan Rogue when an eastbound BMW convertible struck his vehicle. A 17-year-old boy operated the BMW at the time of the crash.

After the initial impact, the BMW continued forward and collided with a westbound Mazda. A 67-year-old woman drove the Mazda, police said. The force of the crashes caused severe damage to the Nissan.

Emergency responders transported the 76-year-old man to a local hospital for treatment. Despite medical efforts, hospital staff pronounced him dead from his injuries. He was the only occupant inside the Nissan.

The 17-year-old BMW driver and his 16-year-old passenger also went to the hospital. Doctors treated both teens for minor injuries. The Mazda driver did not report any injuries at the scene.

All drivers involved remained at the location following the crash. Officers secured the area and began collecting evidence. Police have not announced any charges connected to the collision.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Fatal Car Accidents in New YorkMan Killed in Fatal Car Accident on West Broadway

Fatal crashes in New York leave families facing sudden loss, emotional pain, and serious financial concerns. In suburban areas like Woodmere, car accidents often happen on busy local roads where traffic moves in both directions. Even routine morning drives can turn deadly within seconds.

When a crash results in loss of life, surviving families may have legal options through a wrongful death claim. These claims focus on accountability and financial recovery after a fatal incident. While no legal action can replace a loved one, compensation may help families manage unexpected expenses.

Common damages sought in fatal car accident cases include:

  • Funeral and burial costs can place a sudden financial burden on families who were not prepared for end-of-life expenses.
  • Medical bills related to emergency treatment often include ambulance transport, hospital care, and life-saving efforts provided before death.
  • Loss of income or financial support can affect a family’s ability to pay household expenses, especially when the victim provides steady earnings.
  • Loss of companionship and guidance reflects the emotional impact of losing a loved one who offered care, advice, and daily support.

Crashes involving younger drivers also raise important safety questions. Inexperience, judgment errors, and reaction time often play a role in serious collisions. A full investigation typically reviews speed, right-of-way, and driver behavior.

Local accident investigations may take time. Officers review vehicle damage, roadway evidence, and witness statements. Accident reconstruction experts may also assist. Families should avoid delays when seeking guidance, since evidence can fade quickly.

Families facing the loss of a loved one may benefit from speaking with a wrongful death lawyer who understands how these cases unfold. Legal guidance can help families navigate complex insurance issues, investigate liability, and protect their rights during a painful time.
