Yonkers, NY – Woman Pinned and Dragged Under Car on New Main St
Yonkers, NY (January 20, 2023) – A woman was injured when she was struck by a vehicle and pinned underneath it in Yonkers. The accident was reported to police at approximately 9:30 p.m. Sunday, January 15.
Video from the scene shows a woman attempting to cross New Main Street when she was hit by a vehicle and knocked down. As she tried to get up, the driver stopped and started to exit their vehicle, but forgot to put it in park.
The car rolled forward and struck the woman a second time, this time dragging her and pinning her underneath the vehicle’s front wheels. A good Samaritan who was driving in the opposite direction stopped and rendered aid by stopping the car that struck the woman.
A jack lift was used by witnesses to lift the vehicle off of the woman until emergency responders arrived. The injured woman was transported to a local medical center with injuries deemed non-life-threatening.
The driver, identified as a person from North Carolina, stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Police in Yonkers are still working to determine the details of the incident.
We hope for the full recovery of the injured woman.
