Fatal Car Accidents in New YorkFatal Two-Car Crash on Rte 20 Near McGuire School Rd

Fatal car accidents leave families devastated, facing both emotional grief and financial hardship. In New York, when a driver’s negligence causes the death of another person, surviving loved ones may have the right to file a wrongful death claim. These claims are intended to provide compensation and a measure of justice for the family’s loss.

Through a wrongful death claim, families may seek compensation for:

  • Funeral and burial expenses, which can place a sudden financial burden on loved ones. These costs often arrive unexpectedly and add stress to families already grieving.
  • Lost financial support and future earnings the deceased would have provided. This loss can impact the family’s ability to maintain their standard of living over time.
  • Medical costs for care provided before death, such as emergency transport and hospital treatment. Even short-term medical care can result in overwhelming bills that families struggle to pay.
  • Emotional losses, including the loss of companionship, guidance, and support. These non-economic damages recognize the lasting emotional pain caused by the absence of a loved one.

Wrongful death cases can be complex and require a careful investigation into the crash. Police reports, witness statements, and expert testimony may be critical in establishing liability. Having a skilled wrongful death attorney ensures families understand their rights and receive the help they need during a painful time.
