
Queens, NY (October 22, 2024) – A fatal bicycle crash occurred on Monday, October 21, when a woman riding her bicycle was struck and killed by a pickup truck fleeing from police after a reported burglary in Astoria. The collision took place around 11:15 a.m. at the intersection of 34th Avenue and 37th Street. Emergency services responded quickly to the scene.
According to reports, the driver of the pickup truck, fleeing from officers, collided with the bicyclist. Eyewitnesses reported hearing the impact and immediately called 911. Paramedics arrived shortly after and transported the victim to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. The pickup truck was discovered abandoned approximately a mile from the scene, with no occupants inside. The suspects involved in the burglary remain at large.
The NYPD is currently investigating the incident and has assured the community that they are taking all necessary steps to apprehend those responsible.
