What Evidence Is Most Helpful After a Crash in Readington Twp, NJ?Two Vehicle Collide on Rte 202

The evidence collected during the hours and days after a motor vehicle crash can significantly affect an insurance claim or personal injury case. In New Jersey, proving liability typically depends on showing how the collision occurred and whether another driver's negligence caused the injuries.

Photographs of vehicle damage, the roadway, skid marks, traffic signs, and weather conditions can all help establish how the accident occurred. Contact information for witnesses may also become valuable if the insurance companies disagree about fault.

Medical records created soon after the crash can help connect injuries to the collision, while repair estimates and other documentation may demonstrate the financial losses resulting from the incident.

New Jersey follows a modified comparative negligence rule, in which a person's recovery may be reduced if they are partly at fault, and recovery is generally barred if they are found more than 50% responsible.

Because of this, one of the most important parts of a claim is to preserve reliable evidence from the beginning. As questions arise about liability, a car accident lawyer can review the available documentation, identify additional evidence that may strengthen the claim, and explain how New Jersey law applies to the specific circumstances.
