Carneys Point, NJ (September 4, 2023) – Part of the New Jersey Turnpike was closed for approximately three hours on Monday after a vehicle headed in the wrong direction crashed into two other cars, police said. The wreck happened near the Delaware Memorial Bridge in Carneys Point shortly after 1:30 a.m. 

Police say a vehicle headed south in the northbound lanes crashed into an SUV and another vehicle, injuring three individuals. They were sent to the hospital by ambulance shortly after the collision occurred. 

The northbound lanes were closed for several hours while crews worked to secure the scene. Traffic was diverted to Interstate 295 for the time being.

Authorities in Carneys Point continue to investigate the circumstances of the accident.
