Deptford, NJ (September 19, 2025) – A crash between a school bus and a sedan injured one person and shut down a South Jersey intersection on Thursday afternoon, September 18.
The accident happened just before 4 p.m. at the intersection of Tanyard Road and Cattell Road. According to Holcomb Bus Service, about 20 students from the Deptford School District were on the bus at the time of the collision.
Emergency responders confirmed that none of the students suffered injuries. School officials arranged transportation to return the students to their school, where family members could pick them up.
The bus driver did not report injuries. However, the driver of the sedan sustained injuries and required hospital care. Officials have not released the driver’s identity or condition.
The front ends of both vehicles were heavily damaged. Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
We are grateful no children were hurt and hope the injured driver recovers fully.
Bus and Car Accidents in New Jersey
Collisions involving school buses can create widespread concern for families and communities. Even when students avoid injuries, these accidents highlight how dangerous roadway crashes can be. A sedan colliding with a bus often leads to severe vehicle damage and injuries for smaller passenger vehicles.
In New Jersey, school bus and car accidents may result from several factors, including distracted driving, speeding, or failing to yield at intersections. When collisions happen, the size and weight of a school bus make the impact far more serious for other drivers. Victims may face painful injuries, long recoveries, and unexpected financial hardships.
Possible consequences of school bus and car accidents include:
- Catastrophic injuries – Victims may suffer broken bones, spinal cord injuries, or brain trauma, leading to lifelong complications.
- Medical bills – Emergency care, hospital stays, and rehabilitation create steep expenses for families.
- Lost income – Injuries often force victims to miss work, creating financial stress while medical bills continue to grow.
- Emotional distress – Surviving a serious crash can leave victims and families with lasting anxiety and trauma.
