Workplace Accidents in New Jersey

Falls from ladders remain one of the most common causes of workplace injuries across the country. In Ridgewood and throughout New Jersey, workers in construction, maintenance, and utility industries face significant risks when working at heights. Even when falls are not fatal, victims often suffer painful injuries that require costly medical treatment and long recovery periods.
Common injuries from ladder falls include:
- Fractures and broken bones – Arms, legs, and ribs are especially vulnerable during a fall.
- Head and brain injuries – Even with protective gear, impacts can lead to concussions or traumatic brain injuries.
- Spinal cord injuries – A fall from 20 feet or higher can cause damage that leads to lasting mobility issues.
- Internal injuries – Victims may sustain organ damage or internal bleeding that requires emergency care.
When workplace accidents occur, injured workers may be entitled to compensation for medical expenses, lost income, and rehabilitation through workers’ compensation or, in some cases, a personal injury claim. Employers have a responsibility to ensure safe working conditions, including providing secure ladders, proper training, and necessary safety equipment. This is why it is crucial to contact a skilled worker compensation injury attorney.
