Hamilton Twp, NJ (November 4, 2024) – A tragic fire on November 3 in Hamilton Township has claimed the life of a 35-year-old woman, with her 32-year-old partner suffering serious injuries. The tragic incident, reported by the Hamilton Police Division and Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, took place at an apartment complex located in the 1700 block of Klockner Rd.
According to authorities, Hamilton police and fire crews responded to the scene at approximately 2:00 a.m. following a 911 call reporting a fire. When emergency responders arrived, they found the male victim outside the apartment complex, suffering from severe burns to his hands and face. The female victim, identified as Crystal Vasquez Tavarez, was located inside the apartment in a front bedroom, also suffering from severe burns. She was immediately transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where she was tragically pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The male victim, whose identity has not been released at this time, remains hospitalized in serious condition, undergoing treatment for his injuries.
Firefighters extricated the victims from the burning apartment, which had sustained significant damage. A team of responders worked swiftly to contain the fire and ensure it did not spread to neighboring units. In the aftermath, Hamilton police and local authorities secured the area, controlling traffic and directing emergency vehicles to facilitate the rescue efforts. The fire prompted the closure of nearby lanes to allow emergency crews and investigators to work at the scene without disruption.
