New Jersey Car Crashes
Car accidents happen every single day in the state of New Jersey. Sometimes, these crashes may only result in property damage, which, although it can be problematic, is not usually life-altering. However, sometimes, car crashes happen that cause severe injuries and even fatalities. In cases like these, families can be devastated. On average, the state of New Jersey sees more than 100,000 car accidents per year. These accidents injure tens of thousands of people.
The time immediately following a severe car accident can be extremely difficult and overwhelming. You may be stuck in the hospital with injuries that are painful and difficult to deal with while you worry about how you’re going to pay your medical bills. You should know that you have options that may be able to help you recover.
Depending on the circumstances of your accident, you may be eligible to collect financial compensation for the damages that it caused. If you know your crash was the fault of another person, an attorney can help you file a claim so you can financially recover. You may be able to recover compensation for the costs related to your medical care, vehicle repairs, wage loss, and more.
Some common causes of car accidents in the state of New Jersey include:
- Speeding: Accidents caused by speeding can be some of the most devastating types of accidents that happen. Drivers often have no time to react when they are speeding, and a crash occurs.
- Distraction: When drivers are distracted, the destruction they cause can be devastating. Far too many crashes happen because of the actions of drivers who are distracted by texting or social media.
- Intoxication: Drunk drivers put everyone they encounter on the road at serious risk for severe injuries or even death. When drivers are intoxicated, they do not have the ability to operate their vehicles safely and mindfully.
These are all common types of driver negligence seen throughout the country. However, driver distraction has become the most common cause of American auto accidents. The number of distracted driving accidents has risen to more than 400,000 crashes per year.
