New Jersey Truck Accidents
Truck accidents are often more severe than other types of traffic accidents. This is due to the sheer size and weight of semi-trucks. They are about 20-3o times heavier than your average passenger vehicle, meaning they are extremely dangerous if they become involved in a collision. When a semi-truck becomes involved in a crash with a smaller vehicle, the occupants of the smaller vehicle almost always sustain severe injuries or even lose their lives. Alarmingly, the majority of these accidents are caused by the actions of negligent drivers.
There are numerous forms of financial compensation available to commercial truck accident victims that extend well beyond basic medical expenses, even though these current and anticipated costs account for a major percentage of any settlement award.
Commercial trucking accidents can cause more than just severe economic hardship. They can also hurt your relationship with your significant other and cause substantial psychological and emotional hurdles.
In addition to medical expenses, other types of financial compensation include:
- Property damage
- Lost income
- Diminished earning capacity
- Cost of a caregiver
- Diminished quality of life
- Loss of fellowship
- Physical anguish
- Emotional distress
In the worst possible scenario, your loved one may have lost their life in an accident caused by a negligent driver. If this has happened to you, you deserve to be compensated for your losses. Contact a wrongful death lawyer in Hope to learn about how you may qualify for financial compensation for funeral costs, medical bills, lost wages, pain, suffering, and more. Negligent driving is illegal, and, therefore, if your life has been negatively affected by the actions of a negligent driver, the law says you are eligible to sue the party responsible.
