Pedestrian accidents happen all too often in New York City. Every year, hundreds of people lose their lives due to New York pedestrian crashes. These accidents can happen for a multitude of reasons. However, driver negligence is the main cause. Drivers who are fatigued, distracted, intoxicated, and speeding put their own lives and the lives of those whom they encounter on the road at severe risk for serious injuries and fatalities.
If someone loses their life due to the negligent actions of another person, the surviving family members of the deceased individual can collect financial compensation for the damages and losses they face, including but not limited to the following:
- Medical care
- Funeral care
- Burial costs
- Cremation
- Pain
- Suffering
- Lost income
- Loss of future earning capacity
- Loss of advice/consortium
