Lakewood, NJ – Child Critical After Playground Accident in Lakewood Commons

Lakewood, NJ (June 21, 2022) – A 6-year-old boy was taken to a regional hospital with critical injuries after he was strangled by a section of playground equipment on Monday, June 20th.

According to sources, the boy was with a group of children who were playing at a park in the Lakewood Commons community on Coles Way when his bicycle helmet got snagged by a piece of dangling playground equipment, constricting his airway and leaving him unconscious.

The child’s friends managed to free him and call for help.

Emergency responders were successful in their life-saving efforts. The boy was then taken by ambulance to the Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

The boy’s family said that, as of Tuesday morning, he is in stable condition and doctors are optimistic about his recovery.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family at this time. We hope for their full recovery.

Premises Liability in New Jersey

Lakewood, NJ - Child Critical After Playground Accident in Lakewood Commons

Property owners can be held accountable for compensating injured victims if their property is deemed unsafe by design or due to a temporary hazard that was not protected, corrected, or removed from public access.

Those who own private property or businesses in New Jersey are required to take reasonable precautions to make sure that guests on their premises are safe from death or injury resulting from hazardous conditions.

In many cases, people suffer from devastating accidents due to the reckless actions of product manufacturers, property owners, building managers, contractors, and landlords. When victims are hurt in accidents, due to the negligent acts of another person, they may be eligible to file a legal claim against the at-fault party.

If you are injured due to negligence while you are a guest on another person’s property, you could have grounds for a premises liability suit.

These claims enable injured parties to collect compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and more. In some cases, injured parties can reach out to a residential premises liability attorney in New Jersey to get the justice they deserve.
