New York Pedestrian Accidents
When pedestrians become involved in traffic accidents with vehicles, they almost always sustain serious injuries. This is obviously because pedestrians travel with little to no protection against the weight and size of large, fast-moving vehicles. An individual who is struck by a vehicle usually sustains injuries from three distinct points of a vehicle:
- Bumper
- Hood
- Windshield
These impacts can cause severe or even deadly injuries, some of which include:
- Head trauma
- Amputation
- Spinal cord damage
- Broken bones
- Emotional turmoil
- Fatality
Oftentimes, pedestrians suffer musculoskeletal injuries to their lower extremities when they are involved in auto accidents. If you or someone you love has been hurt in a pedestrian crash, you should contact a pedestrian accident attorney as soon as you can. A lawyer can help you learn more about your ability to collect financial compensation.
Financial compensation may be awarded to you if you were hurt by a negligent driver. Negligent drivers cause over 90% of the auto collisions reported in the United States. Drivers who are distracted, intoxicated or fatigued often cause wrecks that end in serious injuries for those involved.
