Monmouth Junction, NJ – Four Injured, Baby Thrown From Window in Apartment Fire on Rt 522
Monmouth Junction, NJ (March 07, 2022) – On Monday, March 7th, a fire broke out on Route 522 at the South Ridge Apartment Complex in Monmouth Junction. At least four people were hospitalized and 50 residents were displaced.
At about 8:15 a.m., police received reports of a fire at the apartment complex. The South Brunswick Police Department and three additional fire departments responded and found the second and third floors of the building overcome by flames.
A father trapped on the second floor had no choice but to toss his baby out the window to firefighters waiting outside then jumped himself. Both sustained injuries but are expected to survive.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
Apartment Fires in New Jersey
Some of the main causes of New Jersey apartment fires, house fires, and building fires are:
- Faulty appliances
- Defective electrics
- Broken or wrongly installed gas lines
- Clogged chimney flues
- Defective boilers or furnaces
As well as learning the cause of the fire, it is also necessary to determine if the actions of a third party contributed to the fire itself or to a resident’s inability to flee safely.
If a third party acted negligently, a burn injury victim or their surviving relatives could have a viable claim against them for their damages or wrongful death.
