Paramus, NJ (July 5, 2024) – On July 5, two people lost their lives in a wrong-way crash on the Garden State Parkway. The incident happened in Paramus just before 2:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes near milepost 163.4. Police say Diana Cruz, 38, from Newark, was headed north in the southbound lanes in a Honda. Her vehicle collided with a Toyota SUV operated by 55-year-old Sunday Ogundare of Newark.

Both Cruz and Ogundare lost their lives in the accident. A 20-year-old woman from Pompton Plains was moderately injured and transported to a local hospital for treatment. Police are still working to investigate the causes of the crash.
