Shandaken, NY – Two Teens Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Rt 28 near Rt 212
Shandaken, NY (January 12, 2024) – Two teenagers lost their lives in a multi-vehicle accident that occurred in Shandaken on Tuesday, January 9. At around 9:00 a.m., emergency responders were dispatched to the scene of the crash on Route 28. It happened when a man, age 54, was driving a tractor-trailer headed east on SR-28 when he struck a Honda that was stopped on the road near Route 212. The tractor-trailer driver then crossed over the double yellow line and struck a Hyundai. After that, the truck rolled over and was struck by an Audi that was headed west on Route 28. All three occupants of the Hyundai were identified as juniors in high school. Two were pronounced deceased on-site by medical professionals. The third teenager was flown to Westchester Medical Center with serious injuries. The semi-driver was also taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries he sustained in the accident.
