Somers, NY (August 13, 2024) –  A tragedy struck the town of Somers on Monday afternoon, August 12, at the intersection of Stoneleigh Avenue and Route 202, when a motorcycle and car collided with one another, resulting in the death of the motorcyclist. The accident happened around 2:40 p.m., prompting a swift response from New York State Police.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Robyn B. Silverstein, 60, of Kent Lakes, was driving a Mercedes Benz northeast on Route 202 when she attempted a left turn onto Stoneleigh Avenue. During this maneuver, her vehicle collided with a Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by James T. Herring, Jr., 50, of Port Chester, who was traveling southwest on Route 202. 

Herring was tragically pronounced dead at Westchester Medical Center after being transported there for treatment. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this fatal crash, seeking to determine the precise cause of the collision.
