Toms River, NJ – Fatal Pedestrian Accident at Massachusetts Ave and Rt 70

Toms River, NJ (October 24, 2022) – A pedestrian died after being hit by the driver of a Ford Explorer on Sunday, October 23rd in Ocean County. 

The incident took place at about 2:10 a.m. in the area of Route 70 and Massachusetts Avenue in Toms River. 

Officers from the Toms River Police Department were dispatched to the scene. Upon their arrival, they discovered a 28-year-old female lying in the roadway. According to an eyewitness, after striking the pedestrian, the driver got out of his vehicle, looked at the woman, and then fled in an easterly direction down Route 70 toward Lakewood. 

The victim’s name is being withheld pending family notification.
