Toms River, NJ (May 22, 2023) – Several people were hurt on Sunday evening, May 21, in a three-car crash that occurred in Toms River. Authorities report the incident took place at around 7:40 p.m. on Route 9.
Six individuals were injured in the accident that took place at the intersection near Hecht Drive. An initial investigation showed that a vehicle was headed south on Route 9 when it lost control and collided with another car, pushing it off of the road and into a driveway exit, where it struck a third vehicle.
Among the three vehicles, six people sustained injuries. All six were transported to area hospitals, three to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, and three to Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus and Community Medical Center.
The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, the New Jersey State Diversion team, and Ocean County Sheriff CSI responded to the scene. The Toms River Traffic Safety Unit and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office are currently investigating the details of the crash.
