How Long Do Crash Victims Have to File a Claim in Union Township, NJ?Two Hurt in Crash on Rte 173 in Union Twp, NJ

In New Jersey, the statute of limitations for filing a personal injury claim after a car accident is generally two years from the date of the crash. That means a person hurt in a collision has a two-year window to initiate legal action against an at-fault party. If you miss that deadline, you can eliminate the right to seek compensation entirely, regardless of how strong the case might be.

People hurt in two-vehicle crashes face a combination of physical and financial burdens. Whiplash, broken bones, and internal injuries are common, and some symptoms may not surface until days after the collision. It is crucial to seek medical attention right away, not only for your health, but also to create medical records that can back up a legal claim later.

After a car accident, medical bills, time away from work, and vehicle repair costs can accumulate quickly, making it important to understand what legal options may be available early. A car accident attorney can help evaluate the details of a crash, identify who may be at fault, and explain what types of compensation a person may be eligible to seek.
