How Is Fault Determined After a Two-Vehicle Crash in Bloomsbury, NJ?

New Jersey follows a modified comparative negligence rule, which means an injured driver or passenger can recover damages as long as they are found to be 50% or less at fault for the crash, with any compensation reduced by their share of responsibility.

After a crash, people involved may face vehicle repair costs, missed work, and ongoing medical treatment depending on the severity of their injuries. Soft tissue injuries and concussions in particular can take days to fully present, which is why prompt medical evaluation matters even when symptoms initially seem minor.

New Jersey requires drivers to carry personal injury protection (PIP) coverage, which can help pay for medical bills regardless of fault, but disputes often arise over what PIP does and doesn't cover.

Sorting through these coverage questions is something a car accident lawyer regularly helps with, particularly when an insurer disputes the extent of an injury or denies a claim outright. New Jersey also generally allows two years from the date of a crash to file a personal injury lawsuit, so gathering police reports and witness information early can matter later on.
