Manhattan, NY – Dozens Injured in Bus Collision on 1st Ave near E 23rd St

Manhattan, NY (July 6, 2023) – A serious bus accident occurred in Gramercy, Manhattan, on the evening of July 6. Responders were dispatched to the scene of the accident shortly after it happened at around 7:27 p.m.

Initial reports reveal the incident took place near the intersection of 1st Avenue and East 23rd Street. Personnel with the FDNY said an MTA bus and a tour bus collided at the intersection. 

Paramedics said that approximately 55 to 60 people sustained injuries in the collision. The cause of the crash has not been determined at this time. 

At least eighteen individuals suffered serious injuries and were transported to local hospitals by ambulance, sources said. At this time, police in Manhattan continue to investigate the details of the crash.
