  • Negligence of building occupants

After a residential fire, it is vital to figure out whether the behavior of a third party helped cause the fire or if their action or inaction hindered a resident’s ability to safely flee the premises.

Some commonly seen elements investigated by a Manhattan burn injury lawyer include:

  • If the property owner/manager adhered to up-to-date fire and safety protocols

  • Fire doors were in working condition
  • Fire escapes and exits were able to be utilized
  • Firewalls were correctly positioned and built
  • Smoke detectors were properly functioning

If it is determined that a third party contributed to the cause or inability of a building occupant to safely leave the premises or the inability of fire crews to access the building to safely put the fire out, you may have a legitimate claim against the negligent individual/entity. Especially if you have lost someone you love in a structure fire, a wrongful death attorney can help you recover compensation for the losses and damages you face.
