School Bus Accidents in New York

School bus accidents are rare, but when they happen, the consequences can be devastating—especially for children. Families often face sudden medical emergencies, long recovery periods, and emotional trauma. In these situations, understanding personal injury claims is an important step in seeking justice and support.
Victims of school bus accidents may be entitled to pursue compensation for several types of losses through a personal injury claim. Some of the most common include:
- Medical expenses: This includes the cost of hospital stays, surgeries, doctor visits, medications, and future medical care related to the injuries. Serious injuries often require long-term rehabilitation and specialized treatment.
- Rehabilitation and therapy costs: Children injured in pedestrian or school bus accidents may need physical therapy, occupational therapy, or even speech therapy to recover. These treatments can be ongoing and costly.
- Pain and suffering: Personal injury claims can address the emotional and physical toll of the accident. Compensation can help account for the trauma and distress caused by the injury.
- Loss of enjoyment of life: When injuries prevent a child from participating in everyday activities, sports, or school, families may seek compensation for the impact on the child’s quality of life.
- Future care needs: In severe cases, long-term or permanent injuries may require lifelong medical assistance. Personal injury claims can help provide the financial security needed to support those ongoing care needs.
Pursuing a personal injury claim can also help hold negligent parties accountable, whether the crash resulted from driver error, mechanical failure, or unsafe conditions. Families do not have to face these challenges alone—working with an experienced school bus accident attorney can make the process clearer and more manageable.
