Brooklyn, NY (March 21, 2023) – Two people were killed, and another five suffered injuries after a T-bone collision sent a damaged vehicle spiraling into a group of pedestrians in Brooklyn on Monday, according to information from police.
The accident occurred at approximately 1:00 p.m. when a 49-year-old man lost control of his vehicle on 18th Avenue in Bensonhurst. He reportedly ran through a red light before crashing into another car near the intersection with 64th Street.
Footage from nearby surveillance cameras shows two vehicles crashing and spinning out of control, with one barreling down the street and another up onto the sidewalk.
Car parts were strewn across the road and sidewalk while emergency crews rushed to help the injured victims at the scene. Two individuals were transported to Maimonides Hospital but succumbed to their injuries shortly after.
One person was said to be in critical condition at the hospital, and four others were in stable condition, police said. No other details have been reported concerning the accident at this time.
