Brooklyn, NY – Woman Sustains Injuries When Struck by Sanitation Truck near 73rd St & 11th Ave

Brooklyn, NY (October 20, 2021) – A woman was hospitalized after she was hit by a sanitation truck in Brooklyn at a dangerous intersection on the morning of Tuesday, October 19. The incident occurred at approximately 9:30 a.m. in Dyker Heights, according to reports. 

Authorities in Brooklyn stated that the truck was turning from 73rd Street onto 11th Avenue when it struck the 39-year-old female victim. She was crossing the street near the intersection, information from local officials reveals. 

Paramedics and police were called to the scene where the driver who struck the woman remained and cooperated. The victim was rushed to an area medical center in critical condition. The truck driver was transported to an area hospital for observation. 

The truck was identified as the property of the Department of Sanitation. Authorities were at the crash scene for hours after the incident took place. Investigations into the circumstances of the collision continue.
