East Islip, NY – One Killed, One Hurt in Wrong-Way Crash on Heckscher State Pkwy
East Islip, NY (February 7, 2023) – A man lost his life on Monday night, February 6, after being involved in a serious car crash that happened in East Islip. New York State Police said the incident occurred when a wrong-way driver crashed into his car.
The accident happened on Heckscher State Parkway. A 2010 Hyundai Sonata was headed north in the southbound lanes when it collided with a 2020 Tesla head-on.
Responders were dispatched to the scene located between exits 44 and 45. Both drivers were transported to the hospital for treatment. One later lost their life due to the extent of their injuries.
Authorities in East Islip continue to investigate the circumstances of the accident.
