East Orange, NJ (September 15, 2021) – A multi-vehicle collision reported on Tuesday afternoon in East Orange claimed a New York woman’s life. At around 3:33 p.m., on September 14, emergency crews were notified that their assistance was needed on-site at a traffic-related incident on Interstate 280.

According to preliminary investigations provided by the New Jersey State Police, a tractor-trailer, a Toyota Camry, a Honda Accord, a Scion, and a Hyundai SUV were all traveling on the westbound side of Interstate 280.

For unknown reasons, the tractor-trailer struck the rear-end of the Scion near mile marker 12.6. The impact of the crash sent the Scion crashing into the rear of the Hyundai, causing the Hyundai to crash into the Toyota. Then Toyota then crashed into the rear-end of the Honda.

The driver of the Scion, identified as 51-year-old Nicole A Greco from Chester, New York, sustained fatal injuries. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Hyundai, 36-year-old Daniel Clark from Scotch Plains, was rushed to a local hospital with moderate injuries. At this time, the crash remains under investigation.
