Pedestrian Accidents in New JerseyPedestrian Hurt in Crash Near Chestnut St & Walnut St

Pedestrian crashes in New Jersey often happen at busy intersections, where cars turn, stop, and speed up within a small space. Early morning light can also make it harder for drivers to spot someone crossing. A single missed glance or rushed turn can lead to a serious impact, since pedestrians have no shield against a vehicle.

People hit by cars may face many kinds of injuries, even when the crash seems minor at first. Common injuries include:

  • Broken bones in the legs, hips, arms, or ribs, which can need surgery and long healing.
  • Knee and ankle damage, such as torn ligaments or crushed joints from the first point of contact.
  • Head injuries, including concussions or brain trauma, after the person hits the hood or pavement.
  • Spine and neck injuries that may cause lasting pain or limited movement.
  • Deep cuts and road rash that can lead to infection or scarring.
  • Internal injuries, like bleeding or organ damage, that may not show symptoms right away.
  • Emotional trauma, including anxiety about walking near traffic again.

After a pedestrian collision, victims should see a doctor right away and keep track of all care. Photos of injuries, medical records, and witness names can help later if the person decides to file a claim. In many pedestrian accidents, victims may seek compensation for medical bills, physical therapy, lost pay, and the pain that comes with recovery.

After a crash like this, talking with a pedestrian accident lawyer can help a victim understand their rights, deal with insurance companies, and pursue payment for the full cost of recovery.
