Manhattan, NY – Carlos Garcia-Ramos Killed in Accident on W 24th St near 7th Ave
Manhattan, NY (December 15, 2022) – Authorities in Chelsea, Manhattan, responded to the scene of a fatal accident Sunday morning, December 11. The victim was identified as Carlos Garcia-Ramos, age 38, of Washington Heights.
Authorities reported the crash happened while Garcia was riding his e-bike on West 24th Street between 7th Avenue and 8th Avenue in Chelsea. The incident occurred shortly before 1:30 a.m.
Garcia was struck from behind by a driver operating an Infiniti. Garcia-Ramos was thrown from the bike. He then struck a parked car and fell to the ground. He was found by police a short time later and rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The New York Police Department stated the Infiniti driver left the scene without rendering aid. However, the car was found parked a short distance away, and the driver was arrested.
Authorities continue to investigate.
