Manhattan, NY – Cyclist Killed in Hit & Run Crash on W 24th St

Manhattan, NY (December 5, 2022) – A cyclist lost their life in a hit-and-run crash in Manhattan in the early morning hours of Saturday, December 3. At approximately 1:30 a.m., the wreck occurred on West 24th Street in Chelsea. 

The crash was so forceful the e-bike the rider was on was found wedged into the vehicle that struck him. Authorities were called to the scene due to reports of a man found unconscious. He was apparently struck from behind and thrown into a parked vehicle. 

The victim was transported to Bellevue with severe injuries. He later lost his life. 

Police canvassed the surrounding area and found the involved sedan near the intersection of West 24th and 7th Avenue with a bike lodged into its front. The alleged driver was found sometime later in a building nearby. 

Authorities stated the 24-year-old driver was arrested, and criminal charges are currently pending.
