Manhattan, NY – Hit & Run Crash Takes 1 Life on Third Ave near 96th St

Manhattan, NY (December 14, 2022) – A hit-and-run driver struck a woman in Manhattan and took her life on the evening of Thursday, December 8. The wreck happened on the Upper East Side at approximately 6:00 p.m. 

Sources say the incident occurred on Third Avenue near East 96th Street when the woman was walking across the crosswalk. A dark-colored sedan headed north struck her for reasons still under police investigation. 

When she was lying in the road, she was struck again by an MTA bus. She was identified as a woman in her mid-20s. She was found irresponsive in the street by police. Paramedics pronounced her deceased after arriving at Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital. 

The first driver left the scene without stopping to render aid. Authorities continue to search for the driver at fault.
