New York Pedestrian Accidents
Pedestrian crashes happen in the United States constantly. In the state of New York, hundreds of pedestrians are injured per year. Though numerous laws and regulations are put in place to preserve the safety of pedestrians in the United States and throughout New York, they continue to sustain injuries and lose their lives at alarming rates. Driver negligence has become a serious problem in the past decade, causing more injuries and fatalities than ever before. Driver negligence is currently the leading cause of pedestrian crashes in the United States, specifically distracted driving.
When someone loses their life due to the negligence of another person, the family members who are survived by the deceased may be eligible to collect compensation for the losses and damages related to the accident. Some of these damages may include:
- Funeral costs
- Medical Care
- Lost wages
- Loss of future income
- Loss of companionship
- Loss of childcare
Relying on insurance companies to look out for your best interest is never a good idea, as they are usually only out to make a profit and get you to settle for as little compensation as possible. Seeking the skilled assistance of a wrongful death attorney in Manhattan is a smart move if you know that your loved one lost their life due to the negligent actions of another person.
Family members can focus on healing after their financial burdens are relieved when they file a wrongful death claim.
