Mastic Beach, NY – Brian Baker Killed in Auto Accident, Teen Injured on Mastic Rd near Blanco Dr

Mastic Beach, NY (May 9, 2023) – A man from Moriches lost his life in a severe auto collision that occurred in Mastic Beach on Tuesday afternoon, May 9. He was identified as 43-year-old Brian Baker. 

He was traveling on Mastic Road in a 2022 Hyundai headed north when he lost control and crashed into a tree. The incident took place at around 2:22 p.m., according to police. 

The vehicle crossed over the southbound lanes of traffic onto a curb before striking the tree and then a utility pole, police said. Baker was pronounced deceased at the scene by a medic from the Mastic Beach Ambulance Company. 

Additionally, a 16-year-old female in the vehicle at the time of the accident suffered injuries. Authorities in Mastic Beach are still investigating the details of the crash.
