Neptune City, NJ – Victims Sustain Burn Injuries After House Fire on Adams WayNY/NJ Legal News
Neptune City, NJ (November 26, 2021) – Neptune City firefighters saved a woman from the second story of a burning townhouse on Thursday, November 25th.
The fire broke out in the 1200th block of Adama Way. It was first reported at about 7:40 p.m. when a woman called to say that her house was on fire and she was trapped on the second floor.
Upon their arrival, three Neptune police officers located the woman’s brother on the first floor of the home.
After helping him escape, police were able to smother the flames on the first floor with a fire extinguisher, however, they were unable to get upstairs due to the heavy smoke.
Neptune City firefighters arrived, accessed the upstairs, and brought the woman down. Both the woman and her brother sustained burns and had endured significant smoke inhalation. They were taken by ambulance to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.
Neptune firefighters were able to contain the fire with help from fire companies from Asbury Park, Avon, Wall, and Wanamassa.
There was moderate damage to the townhouse.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their family at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
Burn Injuries in New Jersey
A serious burn is an emotionally and physically traumatic experience. Almost everyone has experienced a minor burn from cooking or other common activity, but burn caused by residential fires often cover large portions of the body, are incredibly painful, and can lead to serious infections and skin loss, paving the way for other serious medical conditions.
When they heal, burns can leave disfiguring scars that require surgical intervention and can make routine movements difficult and painful.
A severe burn can take years to heal. In some cases, the victim never fully recovers. Burn victims usually require hospitalization in special wards where they have to undergo multiple surgeries and other treatments to get their skin as functional and normal-looking as possible. A lot of victims also need psychiatric care due to the trauma of the event and of living with disfiguring scars.
Appropriate medical care for burn victims is expensive. If your burn injuries were the result of another person’s reckless, careless, or malicious behavior, you are entitled to seek compensation for your physical, financial, and emotional damages.
