New Paltz, NY – Two People, Dog Injured in Car Accident at Rt 299 and Red Barn RdNY/NJ Legal News
New Paltz, NY (October 08, 2021) – At about 4:30 p.m., the New Paltz Fire Department responded to reports of a two-car accident at the intersection of Red Barn Road and Route 299.
Upon their arrival, first responders discovered that one of the vehicles had overturned and that two adults and one dog were trapped inside.
The driver and the dog were extricated from one of the cars. The driver of the second car was able to be freed without issue through an exposed door.
One of the victims was med flighted to Westchester Medical Center due to the severity of their injuries. The other victim was transported by the New Paltz Rescue Squad to a local hospital.
The injured dog was taken to the New Paltz Animal Hospital for emergency veterinary care. He is now in stable condition.
The area was closed down for about an hour and a half.
The New Paltz Fire Department was assisted by the New Paltz Police Department, New Paltz Rescue Squad, LifeNet Air2 Helicopter, New York State Police, SUNY New Paltz police, and the New Paltz Animal Hospital.
