Compensation That Victims Can Recover After a Motorcycle Accident in New Jersey

After a motorcycle accident in New Jersey, injured riders may be eligible to seek several types of compensation depending on the circumstances of the crash and the severity of their injuries. This can include costs related to medical treatment, lost income, and long-term care needs. Understanding what may be available is an important first step after a serious collision.
Medical expenses are often the most immediate concern after a motorcycle crash. These can include emergency room visits, surgery, physical therapy, medication, and any ongoing treatment required during recovery. When injuries are severe, future medical costs may also factor into what a person is eligible to seek.
Lost wages are another common area of compensation in motorcycle accident cases. If injuries prevent a person from returning to work, either temporarily or long term, that lost income may be recoverable. In cases where a person’s ability to earn a living is permanently affected, compensation for reduced earning capacity may also apply.
New Jersey law also recognizes non-economic damages in certain cases. These refer to the broader impact an injury has on a person’s daily life, including physical limitations and changes to quality of life. Whether these damages apply depends on the specifics of the case and the threshold established under New Jersey law. A motorcycle accident attorney can review the details and explain what categories of compensation may be relevant to your situation.
