Legal Questions That Arise From Pedestrian Crashes in Independence Twp, NJ

Pedestrian Seriously Hurt on Ridge Ln

Pedestrian crashes in Independence Twp frequently raise questions about fault, especially along stretches where traffic moves at higher speeds, such as Route 46. Route 31 and Route 57 also see steady commuter traffic in the surrounding area, and pedestrian crossings near these roads can be harder for drivers to anticipate, particularly during early morning hours.

Under New Jersey's modified comparative negligence rule, a pedestrian can still recover compensation as long as they are not found more than 50% at fault for what happened. Claims that result from pedestrian crashes are typically requested to be filed before two-years pass from the date of the accident under New Jersey law.

Early evidence, like witness statements or video, can disappear quickly, so reaching out to a pedestrian accident attorney soon after the crash can make it easier to gather and hold onto those details before they're gone.

Injuries from pedestrian crashes can range from fractures and head trauma to soft tissue damage that takes time to fully surface. Recovery can involve extended medical care, physical therapy, or time away from work, and some costs aren't always apparent right after the crash.

Sorting out what to do after being hurt as a pedestrian isn't always straightforward. If you have questions about your situation, our team at Metro Law is available to talk things through.
