New York City Mass Transportation Crashes
New York City’s mass transit system is among the most elaborate in the world. With a daily ridership of more than two million people and more than 700 million annually, most New Yorkers and visitors to the city depend upon the subways and trains to take them where they need to go. In general, mass transportation in New York and elsewhere is a safe means of travel. However, this does not mean that it is safe 100% of the time.
Accidents involving subways, trains, and buses in New York City can lead to serious injuries. Victims of these accidents may suffer head injuries, broken bones, neck and spinal cord trauma, sprains, strains, and other types of impact injuries. Mass transit vehicle collisions can lead to devastating and life-altering effects in just a matter of seconds.
Determining how a mass transportation accident occurred is the first step for victims seeking compensation. In many cases, municipal transportation authorities knew or should have known of potential hazards, but instead, they ignored them, leading to a preventable crash. Injured victims may have a claim against governmental units or transportation officials if they were involved in a mass transit crash.
