S Brunswick, NJ – Man Killed After Multi-Vehicle Crash on Rte 1 & Ridge Rd

South Brunswick, NJ (April 20, 2026) – A man died after a multi-vehicle crash early Sunday, April 19, at the intersection of Route 1 North and Ridge Road. The incident happened just after 2 a.m., when emergency units responded to a reported collision involving three vehicles.

The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office said the crash began when a 53-year-old man driving a Lexus SUV struck the rear of a Toyota Camry operated by a 31-year-old woman. After the initial impact, both drivers got out of their vehicles to speak along the roadway.

Officials reported that a Lexus sedan, driven by a 45-year-old man from Trenton, then crashed into the rear of the SUV. The force of the second impact pinned the 53-year-old man between the vehicles.

Emergency crews arrived and provided aid at the scene. Paramedics transported the man to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where he later died from his injuries.

The woman driving the Toyota received treatment for minor injuries at the scene. The driver of the Lexus sedan suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital for further care.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the accident.

We extend our sincere condolences to the family of the man who lost his life and wish recovery to those injured.

What Should Families Do After a Fatal Car Accident in New Jersey?Man Killed After Multi-Vehicle Crash on Rte 1 & Ridge Rd

Families should first obtain official reports, confirm medical findings, and gather basic documentation after a fatal car accident in New Jersey. These steps help create a clear record of what happened and support any next actions. Fatal crashes often involve complex factors, especially in multi-vehicle situations on major roadways.

A serious accident can lead to significant financial and practical challenges for families. Costs may include medical care before death, funeral arrangements, and lost income. In many cases, families may have the option to file a wrongful death claim, which can address certain losses tied to the incident under state law.

A wrongful death lawyer can help review reports, speak with witnesses, and analyze available evidence. An attorney can also assist with claims and explain how liability may apply when multiple drivers are involved. This process can help clarify what options may exist based on the details of the crash.

Legal guidance can also help families organize records, including medical bills, receipts, and related documents. This information can be important when evaluating whether compensation may be available. Each case is different, and timelines or outcomes may vary depending on the circumstances.
