South Jersey Truck Accidents

South Jersey, NJ - McKenna Winnie, 23, Killed in Fatal Crash with Semi on Rt 619 at Rt 77According to information from statistics regarding truck accidents in New Jersey, they have risen approximately 50% in the past few years. Traffic accidents involving semi-trucks are often much more devastating than regular traffic accidents involving four-door passenger vehicles. This is due to the sheer size and weight of a semi-truck, which is easily 20 times larger than a regular car. This immense difference in size puts any smaller vehicle at a distinct disadvantage when involved in a collision with a tractor-trailer.

Semi-trucks typically weigh approximately 35,000 pounds unloaded, and up to around 80,000 pounds loaded. To add to the dangers surrounding accidents involving these vehicles, their drivers are often overworked, pushing themselves to complete driving shifts sometimes longer than 12 hours at a time. Driving while fatigued is comparable to driving while intoxicated, which are two of the leading types of driver negligence in the United States.
