Summit, NJ – 10-Year-Old Student Struck by Vehicle on Deforest Ave & Woodland Ave
Summit, NJ (February 3, 2023) – A 10-year-old student from Lincoln-Hubbard School was struck by a vehicle at an intersection in Summit. Police were dispatched to the scene on Woodland Avenue where they found the young boy with an injured leg.
The boy stated he was in a crosswalk at the intersection of Woodland Avenue and Deforest Avenue when he was hit by the car. He was rushed to Overlook Medical Center by the Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad to be treated for the injuries he sustained in the crash.
Authorities report the driver, a woman, age 89, from Summit, was headed south at a slow speed on Woodland Avenue when she tried to turn left onto Deforset avenue and struck the boy who was crossing in the crosswalk.
The driver did not immediately stop at the scene, but did return a short time later and spoke to police. Authorities continue to investigate the details of the crash.
