Fires that break out in commercial spaces can cause some of the most serious injuries that a person can sustain. Burns are among the most physically and financially costly injuries tied to these events, and frequently require specialized treatment, extended hospital stays, and long-term rehabilitation. New Jersey residents hurt in fires caused by another party’s negligence may have legal options.

Burn victims usually face medical bills that accumulate quickly. Treatment at a specialized burn center can involve skin grafting, infection management, and ongoing wound care. Beyond the immediate hospitalization, many people require occupational therapy and scarring treatment for months or years. Lost wages during recovery add another layer of financial strain that is easy to underestimate in the early days after a fire.

Many parties can be held liable, such as a property owner, a vehicle manufacturer, or a business operator. When a fire is caused by a negligent party, a personal injury attorney can help evaluate whether a liability claim is viable.

Bergen County roadways, commercial corridors and the stretch of industrially zoned streets that run through Hasbrouck Heights and neighboring Moonachie see consistent vehicle and business activity. Property owners in these areas have a legal duty to maintain safe conditions for people on their premises.
