Whiting, NJ – One Injured, Airlifted After Being Saved From Structure Collapse in Fox Hollow

Whiting, NJ (July 19, 2022) – Fire crews from the Whiting Fire Company were able to rescue a victim from the remains of a shed collapse in the Fox Hollow area of Manchester on Sunday, July 17th.

According to sources, at about 1:25 p.m., Station 33 responded to the scene for reports of a structure collapse.

Upon their arrival, the Whiting Fire Company Station 33 located a person trapped underneath a collapsed shed. Crews brought saws, rescue airbags, and cribbing to the collapsed structure.

Rescuers worked tirelessly to raise the structure off of the victim and stabilize it. Saws were then used to gain access to the victim. Once they were freed, the patient was then taken to Bowker Field for a Medivac.

No additional details have been released.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family at this time. We hope for their full recovery.

Structure Collapse Injuries in New Jersey

Whiting, NJ - One Injured, Airlifted After Being Saved From Structure Collapse in Fox Hollow

Nobody ever expects any part of a house or building to collapse, regardless of being finished and occupied, undergoing construction, or slated for demolition. Total and partial collapses can and do occur and the outcome of either could possibly cause severe injuries or even fatalities.

To avoid these dangerous accidents, building owners, landlords, and supervisors are required to respond immediately when conditions such as these are made known to them.

Full or partial collapses can also arise from mistakes made in a house’s construction or design.  To avoid these kinds of cave-ins, contractors, architects, construction firms, and engineers are required to abide by all state building codes.

A partial collapse might be the collapse of a staircase, ceiling, or floor that gives way and causes a fall. Collapses like these can be brought on by decaying conditions caused by leaking water, mold, or damage from fire.
