New Jersey Motorcycle Accidents
Motorcycle accidents can be some of the most devastating accidents that happen on American roadways. Information provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) shows that over 80,000 motorcycle accidents happen per year in the United States. In 2019, over 84,000 accidents were reported involving motorcyclists, a decrease from the previous year. Unfortunately, motorcyclists are at a much higher risk of sustaining serious injuries or losing their lives when they become involved in accidents than those in passenger vehicles. Reports from the NHTSA show that, in 2019, the number of fatalities related to motorcycle accidents was about 29 times that of the number of fatalities related to other types of accidents.
The majority of motorcycle accidents are caused by driver negligence. Driver distraction, fatigue, and intoxication contribute to thousands of motorcycle collisions per year in the United States. Driver negligence has become a prevalent issue throughout the country in the past decade. Drivers are more distracted than ever, especially with the ever-rising popularity of smartphones. Additionally, drivers are intoxicated and over-tired more often, posing serious threats to people traveling on American roadways.
