Newburgh, NY – Woman Killed in Three-Car Crash on Rt 300 near Union Ave
Newburgh, NY (April 24, 2024) – A woman from Poughkeepsie lost her life in a three-car wreck that occurred at around 9:40 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, in Newburgh.
Police in Newburgh report the incident took place on Route 300 near Union Avenue. Preliminary reports reveal a 2019 Ford box truck was headed north on Route 300 when it approached a curve near the intersection with Union Avenue Extention. Luis Cintron, 49, of Philadelphia, was behind the wheel at the time. The box truck appears to have crossed over into the southbound lane while attempting to negotiate the curve. While doing so, it collided with a 2019 Dodge Ram operated by Michael Gessner, 37, a resident of Wallkill. The box truck then continued north in the southbound lane where it was involved in a crash with a 2016 Ford Edge operated by 68-year-old Tureli Quinci, of Poughkeepsie. Quinci received first aid at the scene from paramedics before she was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in Newburgh. She later died from her injuries. Cintron was treated for minor injuries at St Luke’s and released. The roadway was closed for several hours due to the investigation. The New York State Police Accident Reconstruction Team, Central Hudson and Mobile Life Services, and the Newburgh town police worked at the scene.
