Pleasantville, NJ (July 7, 2025) – An early morning crash on the Atlantic City Expressway claimed the life of a young passenger when the vehicle slammed into a concrete barrier and toll reader support structure. The tragic incident happened just before 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 5, according to the New Jersey State Police.
Authorities say a 23-year-old woman from Bridgeton was driving eastbound near milepost 4.1 when she lost control of the vehicle. Investigators are looking into whether the crash may have involved wrong-way driving. The car collided forcefully with a concrete barrier and the structure supporting a toll reader, causing extensive damage to the vehicle. The impact killed 24-year-old David Salas, also of Bridgeton, who was riding as a passenger. The driver survived the collision but sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
At this time, the exact circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation as troopers work to determine how the vehicle ended up in its final position.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to David Salas’s family and friends as they cope with this loss.
