Chesterfield Twp, NJ – Crash with Injuries on New Jersey Turnpike near Mile Post 56.3
Chesterfield Twp, NJ (August 18, 2023) – A serious crash happened in Chesterfield on the afternoon of August 16. At around 4:00 p.m., the incident was reported to police in the area, who promptly responded to the scene.
Sources say the collision occurred on the New Jersey Turnpike near milepost 56.3. Multiple vehicles were involved in the accident that happened approximately two miles north of Exit 7.
Police report the incident occurred on the inner lanes of the highway and left two vehicles overturned and two others with serious damage. Bordentown Township, Robbinsville Township, and Chesterfield Township, along with New Jersey State Police and EMS, all went to the crash site to render aid to those involved.
At least one person was trapped inside their vehicle at the scene. A small work van and an overturned Jeep were found in the southbound lanes of the roadway, while a heavily damaged SUV and an overturned pickup truck were also found at the scene.
At least one person was injured in the crash. Authorities continue to investigate the details of the incident.
